Is Infrared Worth the Hype?

Infrared therapy is all the rage, everyone is trying it, and infrared services are popping up all over! But did you know the greatest benefit observed from infrared therapy, is with consistent therapy, and for this, a home device should be considered!

The literature is very positive for Infrared therapy! (click link to view study!)

The benefits are endless.

But what is Infrared Light exactly?
Near infrared (NIR) and far infrared (FIR) are both types of infrared radiation that differ in wavelength, penetration, and the benefits they provide.

NIR is thought to provide localized benefits, such as improving skin health and reducing inflammation. NIR saunas use red light and heat lamps.

FIR is thought to provide more overall health benefits, such as improving circulation and boosting the immune system, FIR saunas use ceramic or carbon heaters.

Examples of FIR Heat:

  • The heat you feel from sunlight, a fire, a radiator, or a warm sidewalk is infrared.

  • Heating cabins: Far infrared heat is used in heating cabins, where the body is heated to about 300–400° C.

  • Baby incubators: Far infrared heat is used in baby incubators.

No matter what you choose, NIR or FIR, consistency is key. Consistent usage of red light therapy can even improve your lab results, which is why you should consider an at home device!

Red light therapy uses wavelengths between 600 - 1,000 μm, penetrating the skin and energizing the mitochondria (our cells' powerhouse). By stimulating mitochondrial function, red light improves ATP (energy) production, enhances blood flow through nitric oxide release, and increases antioxidant levels in the body.

But, not all devices are created equal! See below for 2 of my favorite devices (and you know I have researched these!)

Just in time for PRIME DAY!

 THE MITO RED LIGHT

Mito Red Light’s LEDs provide peak light energy at 660nm (red) and peak 850nm (near infrared) with an exceptionally wide beam profile. This ensures excellent coverage of the optimum part of the Optical Window for both red and near infrared light. This ensures you get broad coverage of red and near infrared light just as nature intended.

Or you can order it here on AMAZON!

My next favorite device is for nighttime usage! The Revive Light!

 REVIVE SLEEP LIGHT BY GAMMA

The Revive Sleep Light by Gamma device is a night light, it uses specific narrowband 670 nm LEDs for maximum benefits and increased Melatonin production. It is a great gift for someone who has a challenging time sleeping. Purchase on AMAZON here! It’s a great option for a baby’s room!

Enjoy your prime day shopping! But if you don’t want to shop that is ok too, get outside and grab some sunlight, more than half the Sun's power output is in the form of infrared light and it’s free!
